Names of Lord Krishna
Krishna:
Krishna means "Supremely Attractive", and also "Dark" as His skin color is very dark. Attractive because he is attracting us all back home to our divine nature. Black is attractive. The color Black attracks all colors and reflects nothing back, hence the lack of quality or color. Krishna is called 'Shyam' meaning 'Blue-Black'. Krishna's color is said to be dark blue-black, like the bluish indigo late into sunset.
It is a awe inspiring color, takes our breath away, and gives a feeling of loving peace. Such is the nature of Krishna.
Govinda:
Krishna is commonly referred to as Govinda, meaning cowherd. Govinda also means "Giving the nectar of satisfaction to the senses". Chanting to Radha Krishna brings a deep satisfaction to all of being, including the satiation of desire.
Gopala / Hari:
Literally 'thief', as Krishna's celestial beauty instantly steals the hearts of His beloveds. It is this longing for God that Krishna incites in us.
Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya
Om (Source), Namo (Name/Essence), Bhagavate (Possessing all the qualities of God in their full expression), Vasu (Divine), Devaya (Effulgent).
Krishna is a living manifestation of the Om-Source, carrying and expressing the essence of the Divine. He is possessing all the qualities of God and expressing them in their full effulgence.
